Use the Wiltshire Parish Explorer to find out more about the places where parish registers have been kept since the 16th century. Click on the tabs above:
- Area Map helps you to see where each parish
lies in relation to its neighbours - useful if you're trying to
trace people who don't appear in the parish where you expect them.
- Explore Location lets you explore the modern parish using Google StreetView. Where available, the starting point aims to show you the church or chapel where registers were produced. [Where unavailable, StreetView defaults to the Wiltshire Records Centre in Chippenham]
- Photos of the parish are displayed on this tab.
- Register Indexes held by Nimrod Research are listed here, showing the dates available for each parish. For a fee, we will search our complete database of surviving marriage registers or our extensive list of baptism and burial registers. In addition we can supply datasheets showing where other records relating to the parish are held.
Begin by selecting a parish from the drop-down list above, or click on a tab for information about the randomly selected parish.
